With eZ Systems (news, site) starting its eZ Conference and Awards bash today, it warms up with news of a new integration deal for its open source web CMS eZ Publish with WoodWing's (news, site) publishing solution.
A Match Made in Heaven?
eZ Publish does open source Web CMS, while WoodWing does publishing. So, there is an obvious dovetailing of the two products when it comes to managing the information that forms the basis of any published product. The deal means that companies using or buying a WoodWing Enterprise server get a plug-in and extension to connect to eZ Publish CMS, which stores content in generic XML, enabling content delivery across multiple platforms.
The software is free and allows to expand the list of compatible applications that each product works with. But eZ is not alone in linking with WoodWing. In fact, it is becoming something of a trend. Last month WoodWing joined up with Acquia Drupal to offer Drupal as the default CMS.
WoodWing and Drupal bundling is an alternative to eZ's route of plug-ins, but it all depends on a company's current setup and requirements. Anyone already with eZ installed will find this a far simpler route than swapping over to another CMS.
Alfresco offers yet another example of an integrated solution with WoodWing. Intended for just such dynamic publications, the fruit of the Alfresco/WoodWing collaboration gives book publishers, newspapers, magazines, corporate and agency clients a scalable system that is easy to maintain.
With every publishing company looking to save money in the current economic climate, you can try WoodWing software as a 30-day free trial to see if it fits the bill.
When in Paris
