eZ Systems Announces Mac OS / iPhone Support for eZ Publish

It’s like Christmas all over again for Apple fans as Norwegian Open Source CMS champion eZ Systems has at long last enabled support for their flagship eZ Publish CMS to run on the Mac OS X Server v10.5 Leopard. Perhaps this pleasant change can be attributed to the recent additions to their board of directors. Or maybe these guys are just on a roll with their recent launch of eZ Publish 4.0 and their newly updated eZ Components Suite.
Mac OS X Server users now have access to an Open Source Enterprise Content Management System that lets organizations create websites, intranets and extranets.
eZ Systems has also announced their new extension for eZ Publish, eZ Flow, which is designed for media companies who need to build complex page layouts and pre-planned publication schedules to ensure a constant flow of rich content. And of course one of the most exciting features of eZ Flow is its support of the delivery of content to Apple iPhones.

Since the content presentation is based on a template system, eZ Publish and eZ Flow can serve tailored content to mobile devices by utilizing templates tuned for the device’s display. In the case of the iPhone for example, an eZ Publish template meant to work on it would have its display size modified for use on the iPohne, as well as iPhone-specific user interface elements.
Founded in 1999, eZ Publish is geared toward online publishers and boasts over 150,000 installations of eZ Publish from enterprises and organizations world wide. With Mac OS X Server recently attaining UNIX 03 certification, eZ System’s doors are open to a new market of Mac-using media and publishing industries.
