SilverStripe CMS Extends Its Global Footprint to Australia
![]()
SilverStripe (news, site), the open source CMS that brought you the Democratic Convention website among others, has hopped the waters of the Pacific Ocean, in a sense doubling their real-world presence.
Setting Goals
SilverStripe Australia Pty Ltd is now open in Melbourne. According to SilverStripe Australia General Manager Shane Weddell, their highest priority is to build strong relationships with Australian partners and organizations working with SilverStripe.
When asked what his goals are for SilverStripe Australia in their first year, Weddell answered that priority will go to creating and sustaining effective SLA-based support and giving enterprise-level documentation and training material back to the community.
"We are passionate about open source and supporting those who wish to benefit from the quality and growth of SilverStripe, whether it be in the delivery of their online presence or by basing the commercial growth of their web development business on this open source CMS," says Weddell.
Office Credentials
Weddell is an industry veteran well familiar with complex web, intranet and content management projects through his many years with Squiz.net (news, site) and their MySource Matrix CMS. Other team members include Development Manager Marcus Nyeholt and Systems Manager Owen Windsor.
Nyeholt brings five years of developing and implementing PHP and Java-based content management and document management systems for commercial and government clients, while Windsor acquired his Unix skills working with the Australian federal government in application management before moving to open source development.
About himself and the rest of his team, Weddell says that together they've participated in "diverse projects for federal state and local government as well as all sectors of the corporate community." With their combined expertise he hopes to contribute to the success and growth of SilverStripe globally.
