Telerik has been busy. The software development provider announced its first quarter release, and it includes updates to almost every developer tool in the company’s portfolio.
What’s in the Release
Telerik’s Q1 release is big. It includes updates to over twelve products. The release features several notable enhancements like improved CSS minification, which speeds web page delivery, across all controls. Other noteworthy enhancements in the Q1 release include:
- Rad Controls for ASP.Net AJAX: Several user request enhancements like client-side binding for RadListView, export to Excel for RadTreeList, expand and collapse and drag and drop for RadOrgChart, new data binding options for RadScheduler.
- Telerik Extensions for ASP.Net MVC: Telerik added additional data visualization options like a new area chart, support for multiple value axes and plot bands. Given the popularity of infographics, users will likely enthusiastically embrace these new features.
- Telerik RadControls for Windows Phone: Microsoft is making a big new mobile push with Windows 8. Telerik is helping developers capitalize on the new market by introducing new Application Building Blocks inspired by Microsoft’s new Marketplace logic and environment like ready to use Error Diagnostics and Trial Reminder components. These tools help developers create full featured WindowsMobile applications much faster.
- Telerik Reporting: Telerik is embracing the "empower the end user" movement by adding a new end user Report Designer tool, Telerik Reporting. The product, which is in beta, allows non-technical users create ad-hoc reports and share them with other users.
Telerik users can expect lots of additional goodies this year; the Q1 release is the first of three releases Telerik has planned for 2012.
