There are a number of improvements listed in this latest released of the TYPO3 open source Web CMS. The easier installation is one of the notable improvements. The new installer takes you through a revamped install admin interface, providing the ability to connect to a different database than the standard MySQL. And for those who need to perform specific installation routines, the installer is customizable.

If you want to get a website up and running quickly, there's a new introduction package that installs a default website out of the box.

Improved Backend User Experience

TYPO3 User Experience week in November of 2009 yielded a new backend user interface for TYPO3. Version 4.4 shows us a streamlined look that is more user friendly. The backend has been developed to improve performance as well. And for those writing plug-ins and modules, there is a style guide to ensure they follow the new conventions.
