percussion_logo_2009.jpgWeb content management (Web CMS) provider Percussion Software is making a few leadership changes. The company has announced it has appointed its Chief Operating Officer (COO) to a dual role as President.

Percussion’s New Leader

Percussion Software, which focuses on Web CMS and content marketing solutions, has named Deidre Diamond as the company’s new president reporting to the Chairman of the Board, replacing former president Joseph Wykes.

Diamond currently serves as Percussion’s COO, and she will retain that role. Diamond came to Percussion 14 months ago from Rapid7, where she led the sales team. Rapid7 is in the security space and a sister company to Percussion. Since coming to Percussion, Diamond has shifted the company’s focus to gaining new clients in high tech, education, new media and government, which has allowed Percussion to maintain steady growth.

Percussion Research

In addition to the leadership changes, Percussion recently released a study of 800 organizations that found less than 21% of mid-market technology companies have corporate blogs, and of those that do, only 73.9 percent update them regularly (more than every 30 days). Technology companies that provided software performed slightly better, with 42.8% blogging.

Smaller technology companies fared worst. The study showed that companies with revenue in the US$ 20-25 million range were less likely to blog. Only 15.6% of smaller companies indicated they blogged regularly. According to Percussion, these companies are missing an enormous opportunity to drive social engagement
