Integrate SharePoint and Salesforce with a Data Zoom Web Part
The crew over at SharePoint Solutions (news, site) isn't one to sit around and do nothing apparently. It's been a little over a month since they released their Data Zoom Web Part for SharePoint, enabling developers to create dynamically driven content.
Now, they've gone and extended that Web Part one step further offering integration between SharePoint and Salesforce.com.
Integrating Salesforce and SharePoint
When we told you about the Data Zoom Web Part in April, we mentioned you can get a number of extensions that will allow you to pull content into SharePoint from other data sources. One of these extensions was for Salesforce.com.
SharePoint Solutions has completed the development of that extension and it is now available to purchase. This extension enables you to easily pull Salesforce data into SharePoint for viewing.

Read-Only Access to Salesforce Objects
The following types of Salesforce.com data can be imported from Sales objects:
- Leads
- Opportunities
- Contacts
- Accounts
- Users
You can also design reports and queries (searches) that let you view your Salesforce data within SharePoint in specific formats. One report example is the Sales Funnel Search above.
This is a great extension to have if you have a Salesforce.com account but need a number of people to have access to the data without having their own accounts.
Using SharePoint Productively
Considering SharePoint is a widely used tool for departments and teams, it makes sense to consider incorporating this functionality.
This extension costs a little bit more than the others (which run you US$ 495) at a cost of $US 4,995.00. Of course that may be a steal if you have a number of people who need to view the data on a regular basis.
You can learn more about the Salesforce.com extension and take a 30-day test drive (it's included in the download of the Data Zoom Web Part which itself is free).
