The last time we covered the Frankfurt Book Fair, 70 percent of active readers were ready to go digital. Two years later, they will get a first look at Impelsys’ new iPad module for its publishing platform, iPublishCentral.
A Content Delivery Module
The new iPad module lets publishers access customized apps and deliver specialized content via the tablet device. By being able to connect seamlessly to the publishers’ eBookstore, content galore is just a finger swipe away. You can search a catalog of titles, preview content and make purchases instantly.
We speculated that the iPad would begin to change the way we develop, access and enjoy content. With more and more publishers and magazines embracing the Apple device in ways that lets them develop and display more interactive content and media, it’s only fair that there should be a centralized marketplace to contain it all. Putting apps and media in one place not only helps publishers think outside the iPad, it helps them do it in a way that is affordable and reliable.
Once the publisher’s customized app is made available for free download via the app store, users can access it, log in and subscribe to the eBookstore to view a plethora of options, and the option to download all or selected books directly onto the iPad.
New Module Brings New Updates
The new module for the iPad also showcase some of the new features recently added to iPublishCentral, including:
- ACS4 server integration, which protects PDF and EPUB files when delivered onto eInk devices
- Single Sign-On option for institutional users
- Redemption of pre-generated PIN codes, by users, to access content available on iPublishCentral
From academia to science and technology, publishers across all industries use iPublishCentral to access new audiences, cultivate reading experiences and make some money at the same time. At a time when content is be reshapen for new media, Impelsys’ new iPad module shows that it’s up to speed and evolving to meet their users’ needs.
The iPad module on iPublishCentral will be showcased at Frankfurt Book Fair 2010 for the first time, and a live demonstration will be available at Impelsys’ Stand # L-993 in Hall 8.0 on all days of the fair.
