Speaking of Packt Publishing, Safari Books Online, provider of digital libraries, announced an agreement with the publishing company to make Packt’s books and other technical publications available online to corporate and individual library subscribers.
As Packt Publishing’s first online channel distribution partner, Safari Books Online hopes to enable its subscribers to benefit from access to one of the most comprehensive lists of copyrighted works on open source technologies. Safari Books Online will upload 20 Packt eBooks initially and has plans to eventually include all Packt titles within its digital libraries.
Through a speedy search, users can read Packt books, download chapters, and view the full-text of other types of content within Safari Books Online exclusive content collection. A collection which already comprises thousands of videos, books, pre-published manuscripts, certification guides and more.
As the leader of on-demand reference and learning platforms dedicated to delivering expert content joins forces with the leading publisher of books covering the intricacies of open source technologies, this partnership certainly proves the merit of Open Source. Expert content, indeed.
According to Mark Brokering, director of content management and acquisition for Safari Books Online, as "demand for quality information on open source technologies continues to grow" open source "technologies play increasingly important roles in the IT ecosystem--and in particular within the enterprise".
By offering a quality selection of open source information in one place, subscribers will reap the benefits -- as will Packt -- whose exposure is bound to expand its distribution.
