o Koelnmesse is publishing the agenda of the two-day Product Information Forum
Cologne - The programme of the two-day “Product Information Forum” at DMS Expo - Europe's leading fair for digital information and document management- has been fixed. More than 20 expert presentations and user reports picture the entire spectrum of the topic: Here, composing, creating and translating texts and product descriptions are equally a focus as administration and maintenance of multilingual data and publishing in different target media. The organiser Koelnmesse GmbH managed to win the recognised experts Prof. Sissi Closs, Dr. Wolfgang Sturz and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Ziegler as keynote speakers. The industry expert and long-time management consultant Thomas Lucas-Nülle will moderate a panel discussion. In the exhibitor area, complementary to the forum, about 20 producers and service providers will give comprehensive information on the offers and solutions concerning international product communication.
“This year again, the Product Communication Forum will offer a good mix of introductive talks, user reports and explanations for concrete tasks”, summarises Kai Schmude, Vice President IT & Digital Entertainment at Koelnmesse GmbH.
Jörg Schmale, product manager of DMS EXPO adds: “We specifically address the forum to IT responsibles, CIOs and CEOs who are the traditional main target group of DMS EXPO. They will get an overview about the use, introduction and interfaces between electronic solutions for the creation of product information and technical documentations and their localisation.”
The forum is divided into five thematic sections: The first section will be dedicated to the necessity to modularise and provide content and product information in a structured way and will show different concepts and approaches. In another session, experts will explain what has to be considered during the introduction of adequate software solutions, where there may be pitfalls and what strategies promise to be successful. The importance of product information management is another considerable aspect in the entire business process. The topics translation management and terminology, quality management of product information and content as well as cross media publishing and computerised layout creation are also on the agenda.
“This year, more than 60 companies contributed to the Call for Paper for this forum”, says Schmale. “For us as organiser, this clearly indicates - beside the numerous exhibitors from this domain - the growth of the product information to an important backbone for DMS EXPO.”
A working group of fourteen members which included next to Koelnmesse and exhibitors, also mentors such as Sissi Closs and Dr. Wolfgang Ziegler, professors at the university Karlsruhe, and
Holger Kett of the institute Fraunhofer for Industrial Engineering and Organisation, decided by a ballot about the proposes for talks that were submitted. Detailed information on the Product Information Forum' and the programme can be found at: www.dmsexpo.de
