Metalogix today announced the release of Essentials for Drives (ED), just a few weeks after it released Essentials for Office 365.
Like Essentials for Office 365, Essentials for Drive is a management suite and security suite. It offers lifecycle management for content in in Microsoft OneDrive for Business, Google Drive, Box and other enterprise file sync and share (EFSS) solutions.
EFSS enables users to share files both behind the firewall and across enterprise firewalls.
Shoring Up Content
But organizations like CTERA have found one in three enterprises have experienced content leaks, either by accident or malice. Essentials for Drive tackles the security issue by fostering a more structured cloud collaboration system.
According to Metalogix, ED provides enterprises with content analysis, backup and restore operations was well as a holistic view of all the content that resides in their drives. It also shows where potential content issues may arise.
Metalogix, a migration specialist, notes that it can migrate, administer, secure and backup Drive content from a single, unified UI. It can also move content from one drive to another.
Essentials for Drive displays trends on site and user activity, data growth, usage and permissioning and sharing settings.
Metalogix CEO Steven Murphy told us the Essentials releases help companies manage and secure content post-migration.
“You can move the entire infrastructure to the cloud, but you still have to manage that infrastructure,” Murphy said. “You still have to provision your users, manage your permissions and understand what licensees you have in that cloud environment."
