Day Software is looking to increase its ECM market share in NEMEA - Northern Europe, Middle East and Asia. That's an interesting combination of markets to manage, one that sounds like other ECM providers use, but we hadn't heard of before. Guess Europe is a little too big for one person to handle.

Other content management vendors have two choices when it comes to SharePoint -- join it or beat it. The product is entrenched at the departmental level, nevertheless aspiring competitor, Alfresco, think they can uproot enough MOSS to make business sense of a full assault. Others seek harmony. Day Software is one of these. And their latest claim is that they can help SharePoint grow from department collaboration to enterprise content management.

Day Software, a provider of global content management and content infrastructure software, recently announced the company's financial results for the first half of 2008. Overall, things are going well for the company, but there is still room for improvement.

With another integration under their belt, Day Software continues to prove the value of building a content management solution based on the Java Content Repository (JCR) standard.

In this case, SAP has slapped Day on the back for integrating Communiqué (CQ) with the SAP NetWeaver enterprise portal, enabling their customers to integrate business content and processes directly with the portal.

Not happy to just let people come to their new developer portal, Day Software is heading over to ApacheCon Europe 08 in Amsterdam to do a little social networking.

On Friday, April 11, Day's chief scientist, Roy Fielding will deliver a keynote address entitled "Apache 3.0 (a Tall Tale). Prior to his keynote Friday, look for Fielding's presentation today on "A Little REST and Relaxation". In this presentation, Fielding will discuss the REST protocol he developed giving conference attendees an solid introduction and in-depth overview.

Other presentations by Day on Friday, include:

• Senior developer for JEE and portal applications Carsten Ziegeler's presentation titled JCR in Action - Content-based Applications with Apache Jackrabbit. This might be a good presentation for anyone interested in winning that JCR Cup 2008. There will be a content management application demo during the presentation.
• Another senior developer for Day, Jukka Zitting will give a presentation called File System on Steroids - an Introduction to JCR. This presentation is all about the JCR standard providing an introduction to the JCR API and Apache Jackrabbit.

A great way to spend your Friday if you are a Java developer or architect. Especially if you want to win the first Day JCR cup, gleam all you can from the experts themselves.

If you are hanging out at the Java Server Side Symposium in Las Vegas then you probably heard the news -- Day Software is having a global application competition called the Day JCR Cup 2008.

Well known for their support of JSR 170, the Java content repository API for content access, the winner of this award must be able to demonstrate an original, high quality content-centric application -- design and code -- that uses the API.

The group over at Day Software has been very busy these days. Not only have they launched their own developer portal -- dev.day.com -- but they have entered into an OEM agreement with Exstream Software to bundle their products to create content-centric interactive applications.

Day Software, global content management and content infrastructure software extraordinaire, has launched dev.day.com, a corporate blog and portal by content experts, for content experts.

Designed to encourage communication among those who share ideas and interests around content-related topics, dev.day.com is aimed toward software developers and includes news and commentary surrounding JSR 170, the Java Content Repository (JCR) application programming interface (API) for stored content; representational state transfer (REST), open source and other related topics and technologies.

Day Software, content management and content infrastructure provider, has announced their December 31, 2007 fiscal year numbers and they look pretty nice!

The biggest news -- total revenues for 2007 were up 28.8% to CHF $26.44M compared to the year prior.

Through a strategic liaison, Oracle now provides Day's JCR/JSR 170-compliant connectors. This enables integration between third-party content repositories -- like EMC Documentum and SharePoint -- and Oracle WebCenter.

The connectors come from a license agreement from 4Q06.

Oracle WebCenter is -- and we quote -- an "integrated, comprehensive, and standards-compliant user experience platform." Java devs can build AJAX-rich components, portlets and content in an open architecture.

Day's standardized connectors yield access to a standardized API from which companies can manage all organizational content.

In short, the liaison is an enterprise-trawling, Web 2.0 junkie's dream.

Day served as initiator of JSR 170. Last year, it helped develop compliant components for Oracle. A group of global industry experts, led by day, includes Oracle, in addition to IBM, SAP, FileNet and Sun.

Swiss content management and content infrastructure software provider Day Software has announced its latest Java Content Repository (JCR) connector. This time the company has delivered wiring that enables standard JCR access to the IBM/FileNet's P8 Content Manager enterprise content repository.

Day Software recently announced the availability of a new range of services that will support Apache Jackrabbit. Since its launch nearly two years 2005, Apache Jackrabbit has been popular in the open source industry. With Day's service and support for Jackrabbit, development and deployment of applications will be accelerated and users can realize the full and utilize the full potential of the JCR technology. The company has introduced new offerings around training, support, consulting and development.

Choices, choices, choices... but no big players yet. That's the message for European CMS technology buyers, according to the European edition of the CMS Report by CMS Watch, released today. "Standard", and "Enterprise" -- for large multi-site projects -- editions are available.
