This week there’s been a number of items, including the partnership between M-Files and goVirtualOffice for NetSuite Integration, Laserfiche has released an app for iPad, Zoho continues to offer social capabilities, Metalogix releases SharePoint Content Manager and Hannon Hill releases Cascade v7.0.

Information is at the heart of what most enterprises do. For some it is their product and lifeblood; for others it lubricates all aspects of their operation. The fact is that, in one form or another, information management is vital for virtually any organization, particularly as tough economic conditions prevail, and the more efficiently enterprise content is controlled and accessed, the more effective organizations’ operations become. After all, we all operate in an ‘information economy’ these days.

We’ve been saving up "Gartner’s Cool Vendor’s in Content Management" list for the past four days like a kid trying not to eat their favorite candy bar. Finally, we snapped, opened it last night and found that only four vendor’s had made this year’s list.

Metalogix Software has released a solution that makes it faster and more efficient to manage content in Microsoft SharePoint 2010. The new solution, Content Manager, enhances SharePoint with the ability to make bulk edits to metadata and a ribbon that makes it easier for users to have access to advanced features such as taxonomy.

It seems like only yesterday that we were shouting about the upcoming release of SharePoint 2010. In fact, it is just about two years ago (May 12, 2010) that it was released. And with a mere two years on the market, we’re starting to shout about the release of the next edition -- SharePoint 15.

This week, there have been a number of interesting releases, including haromon.ie’s app for document collaboration for SharePoint accessible on iPad, Halcyon has updated its document management software for IBM i, Sertifi is offering free e-signing in Salesforce and Accusoft offers cloud capture for Silverlight.

Every year, the TechStars Boston Demo Day produces some interesting new companies. This year was no exception. One of the companies that particularly caught our eye was DocTrackr, which offers a service that enables users keep track of their documents wherever they may be. Hence the name DocTrackr.

I remember when our daughter got her first two wheel bike, a silver and pink job with glitter tassels, a pink woven basket across the handlebars and big training wheels. How excited she was, how enthusiastic she was about riding -- especially when mom or dad held on to the back of the seat to control forward motion and give her a sense of security with this new thing.

Since Colligo released Colligo Briefcase Enterprise for iPad in December, it has been putting a lot of effort into developing it as more enterprises take iPad on board. In February it introduced Colligo Briefcase Pro, adding extra muscle. Now it has released v2.0 with added functionality.

Earlier in the week, we took a look at Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Customer Service Contact Centers and found that business applications for the customer service and support (CSS) were obsolete in many cases. Today we will take a look at the companies that made it into the Leaders Quadrant.

This week, Facebook took further steps to secure its users by teaming up with McAfee, Symantec, Trend Micro and Sophos to offer better protection, which is probably good in light of the new Symantec Internet Security Report. Also this week, TEAM and EntropySoft get together for compliance with Oracle email management, while CDS and Tactical get together to offer e-Discovery services.

The release this week of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for CRM Customer Service Contact Centers, which ties in with this month's theme at CMSWire of mobile CRM. In this report, though, Gartner finds a market that is conflicted and fragmented, developing slowly and where business applications for the customer service and support (CSS) function are largely obsolete.

This week, SpringCM upgraded its document approval software, Amazon released Send to Kindle for Mac, OpenText and BigHand released their first integrated offering, Agility upgrades its Web CMS and NovoDynamics releases device-neutral OCR.

Investing in business intelligence is a costly affair. Even for larger enterprises, it is not something that is entered into lightly, and before doing so, there are a number of issues that need to be considered before any decision is made. A recent white paper from Birst Software looks at those issues and what business intelligence vendors should be offering.
