Digital Asset Management is an important part of any organization's content management strategy. Whether it's used to support web content management or enterprise content management, the requirements for a DAM solution have gone far beyond just a solution for storing digital assets.
With more and more organizations focusing on the Internet to attract, maintain and support their customers, CMSWire thought it was time to take a closer look at what is in store for digital asset management this year. And we went to some DAM providers to seek our answers.

We are thinking that the competition between open source enterprise content management vendors is really going to pick up this year. With a bad economy and extremely tight budgets, open source solutions are making their way to even more enterprise boardroom tables, especially in the US. Expect to see Nuxeo right there, selling their enterprise platform.
Mind you they won't have to go far to do it, with their latest office now open in Boston, Nuexo should find themselves right in the thick of things.

In December we ran through a list of things happening with enterprise open source content management provider Nuxeo, including the work they have been doing on the upcoming version 5.2 of their content management platform. Good news has come from the vendor as the make their way into the final stretch of that 5.2 release. Today you can get your hands on Nuxeo 5.2 M4 with over 30 new features and a number of tech improvements.

It’s been a little while since Nuxeo released the last version of its Enterprise Content Management Platform: Nuxeo Enterprise Platform 5.1, but they haven’t been sitting idle since then.
They have just announced the release of Nuxeo Rich Client Platform (RCP) 2.0, a rich client platform for developing ECM applications.

The next time you see the phrase "open source" used in association with some software, be advised that you'll need to take that claim with a grain of salt. This was a statement made last November by ZDNet blogger David Berlind.
As the concept of Professional Open Source gains momentum and more vendors jump on this boat, its becoming increasingly important to have some reliable indicators of what a real open source effort looks like.

The company aims to capitalize on the oh so rosy UK ECM market and the large number of energy and financial services companies in the UK, as well as gain some international footing as it pushes further.

Nuxeo this week has chalked up a significant achievement for their open source ECM project.
Following rather closely to their Oct. 2006 release of Nuxeo Core v1.0, the company has released the first of “stable” (aka “production-ready”) version of Nuxeo EP 5.0.
They continue their mission of making the system easy to use and flexible for both contributors and system integrators alike. Their motto is “Not just a product, a platform.”
