 As Apple rumbles toward yet another App Store milestone, there's hard cash (well iTunes gift cards) in it for the lucky few who download an app at just the right time. 

  Just a few months after launch, and as it goes on-sale in the U.S., BlackBerry has announced that its app store is into six-figures, with the promise of more big name apps to come. 

 If you're wondering just how big the potential for apps is, Apple has seen users download 40 billion apps since the arrival of its App Store, with nearly half of those being grabbed in 2012.

New research from Distimo shows app downloads racing ahead, and while Google's App store is growing fastest, Apple still has a sizeable lead as they expand to new territories.
