Even with the year winding down, there’s still some movement in the GRC space. This week, we looked at SharePoint governance with Quest, ASG bought Atempo, the new HIPAA standard is just about on top of us, and the U.S. government outlined its new security standards for cloud computing.

Yesterday we saw in the Forrester Wave for Enterprise CMS Suites 2011 for Q4 that there is a shift in the enterprise CMS market away from the big, lumbering giants of a couple of years ago toward more content-centric apps designed to fulfill a specific business function. Today, we’ll take a look at how some of the major vendors are dealing with this challenge.

GRC releases this week are dominated by the SharePoint conference, but there have been a couple of interesting acquisitions too with IBM announcing that it is buying Q1 Labs for enhanced security and what looks like the start of a serious move to develop its security division, while McAfee, recently acquired by Intel, has announced it is buying Nitro.
