With the release of a new Forrester Research report, it's apparent we will be looking out for growth in the global tech market of as much as 3.3 percent this year -- with the U.S. market growing 7.5 percent.

Customer experience will see some significant gains in 2013, but, according to a new report from Forrester, those gains will be primarily achieved by a small group of enterprises that have seriously dedicated themselves to the field.

The concept of SMAC (Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud) has evolved from a proof of concept to a technology platform that every IT department must take into account. Nucleus Research looked at key business pressures and the constant technology changes that every company struggles to manage, and we are betting on the following trends to SMAC companies upside the head in 2013.

It may just be that the economic problems that have dogged IT spending over the past few years could be over. According to predictions by Gartner, spending overall this year is going to be US$ 3.7 trillion globally, up 4.2% on last year and, more importantly, up from Gartner’s previous prediction of 3.8%.

Last year witnessed some real progress being made in the social business sector and this year promises more of the same.

Strategies for managing information didn't change dramatically, but the different platforms where one could seemingly save, store and share information evolved quite rapidly. Whether we were on mobile devices, in the cloud or on premises, there was a lot of information and it wasn't always well-organized or well-secured.

“Big Data” was all the rage in 2012. Everyone from your company’s president, to President Obama to a passerby on Main Street had something to say about it. Whether any of them could actually define the term was another matter; not even the experts seem to agree on what it means.

Unless one of the other vendors slips a sneaky acquisition under the door by the end of the year, the announcement by IBM that it is buying StoredIQ early in the new year has to be the last throw in consolidation of the information management market for this year.

Of the things that we are most likely to recall from the past twelve months, dynamic case management (DCM) may not be one of them. But chances are you've dealt with the elements of DCM throughout the year.  You may have called it by another name -- like business process management, or adaptive case management, or maybe you know it as the mobile app you access to get work done.
