In September, Coveo made IDC’s list of innovative information access vendors for its enterprise search capabilities. Since then, Coveo has been hard at work updating and adding functionalities to the Coveo Platform. Today it released version 6.5, which features dynamic, personalized and interactive business analytics and dashboards.

Information access, if it isn't already a big issue for your business, is going to be massive as we approach data meltdown in the coming years, IDC names those who could save us.

Being selected as a finalist in the 2010 CODiE awards wasn't enough for Coveo (news, site), they just had to go out and make some more improvements to their enterprise search engine? What's new? A little bit of Enterprise 2.0, Outlook and Analytics.

In its recent research, CMS Watch (news, site) found that enterprise search buyers are increasingly turning to specialized search vendors, as they struggle to find the right solution.

CMS Watch's Search & Information Access subscription service shows specialized focus in specific environments (Microsoft, SAP, Oracle) or verticals (e.g. Recommind in legal sector).

While evaluating 23 enterprise search vendors (10- to 18-page comparative evaluations per each), the researchers also found that:

• Despite improvements in SharePoint search, Microsoft-focused organizations are still considering other alternatives (Coveo, SurfRay or ISYS).
• Rapidly growing repositories are making enterprise search harder.
• Larger vendors struggle to keep up with specialized search vendors (Sinequa, dtSearch and Vivisimo), who are quickly releasing connectors to various repositories.

The updated Search & Information Access report also looks into FAST, SharePoint search in 2010, Autonomy’s IDOL platform, open source Apache Lucene and Solr, and offers an updated industry "cross-check" chart with 2010 product developments and vendor changes.

Advanced search technology developer Coveo (news, site) has just announced that it is making a beta version of its new Coveo Expresso search solution available for free in a move that is sure to please the small business market.

Coveo Expresso Beta gives up to 50 users the ability to search up to one million desktop and email files as well as up to 100,000 intranet documents and can be installed by a company’s IT department -- says Coveo -- within an hour.

Coveo (news, site), a player in advanced search technology, wants to make your e-mail life easier.

Their new enterprise e-mail search tool aims to makes mincemeat of traditional desktop only solutions by enabling employees to search all e-mail and attachments, regardless of where they are stored, or even if the user is online.
