When we interviewed Brian Alvey in late 2009 on his new web content management system, he told us it was being developed for big publishers. And that it was, Crowd Fusion is the web content management system behind The Daily, Rupert Murdoch's iPad exclusive newspaper.

One of the newest web content management platforms to come our way is Crowd Fusion (news, site). Although only in private beta testing at this time, it is getting some notice. So we thought we would dig a little deeper into what this new platform is all about and you would consider implementing it.

Here's what we learned.

We've been hearing bits and pieces about Crowd Fusion (news, site) for awhile now. But despite the venture funding they have received to date, we haven't seen something tangible -- at least not something we can play with.

But Crowd Fusion has come out of secrecy and revealed its plans to change the world of web publishing forever. The company attended TechCrunch50 and demonstrated their new framework and suite of publishing tools, almost ready for a public beta.

The new player on the web publishing arena, Crowd Fusion, is building a platform “to solve the pain points of publishers at scale.” And now the company has more money to accomplish this mission, as it has closed a US$3 million Series A funding that was dominated by Velocity Interactive Group and accompanied by Greycroft Partners and an entrepreneur Marc Andreesen.

Brian Alvey, the co-founder and CEO of the legendary Weblogs, Inc., is on the verge of launching his new startup - a CMS and hosting system called Crowd Fusion.
