Xythos have announced three significant updates today. Their SaaS document management workhorse, Xythos on Demand, has been reshod; while impending updates for Digital Locker and document manager Enterprise Document Management Suite have also been announced.

Cape-Town vendor Knowledge Tree has just released KnowledgeTreeLive, which offers users document management in a web browser on an on-demand basis.

Percussion, a Web CMS developer perhaps best known for its show-stopping product Rhythmyx, has announced the culmination of a partnership with NavigationArts.

NavigationArts is a Web consultancy that specializes in client-side design and development.

There is a new player in the document management game, and it goes by the name of Ademero, Inc. The latest release of its document management solution (DMS), Content Central version 3.5, intends to simplify the process of document capture, retrieval, and management.

Seeking to add panache to the seemingly slow world of document management, Xythos has just updated Xythos on Demand 1.6, a SaaS document management service.

Search vendor Mondosoft announced the release of Ontolica Search version 3.1 for Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server (MOSS) 2007. While the 3.0 release, covered here in May, had people on the edge of their seats, the 3.1 version is less dramatic and yet no slouch -- offering a number of helpful new features.

Vignette, the firm responsible for refining Web Content Management for some of the world’s largest organizations, has announced the availability of the Vignette Digital Services Hub, a new technology aimed to tame the management and distribution of rich multimedia.

Canon, a familiar word in the digital imaging space, has joined forces with New Hampshire-based eCopy to bring enterprise document management to Canon India. The eCopy ShareScan Open Platform enables users to extend the capabilities of Canon's black and white or color digital multi-functional devices. With eCopy the devices can act as a bridge, converting volumes of paper to high-resolution electronic copies -- bridging document workflows and creating integration points with back office systems.

Fresh from this month's launch of a UK-based operation, Ektron's expansion continues into the southern hemisphere with the opening of new offices in Sydney, Australia. Ektron has chosen Sydney's business hotbed, Norwest Business Park, as the location for their Asian-Pacific presence.

As Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) continues to gain momentum in the content management space, a growing crowd of vendors is flocking to wire their products to MOSS or paper over its rough edges with MOSS-trimming programs.

In a bid to secure corporate information subject to regulatory compliance, enterprises the world over are questioning the effectiveness of traditional centralized records management solutions. The problem lies not as much with the technical workings as it does with the social aspects of the solution. The simple fact is that users often omit the step of actually shuffling documents off to a centralized server. For most people, this extra task is nothing more than a time consuming chore. Vendors who recognize and address this problem are bubbling to the top, and with good reason.

KnowledgeTree has updated their KnowledgeTree Document Management System to version 3.4 -- a more powerful take on its existing low-cost alternative to typical document management solutions. The main differences lie in a gaggle of Web 2.0 features -- which have become darn near required for any sort of legitimacy these days: tagging, tag clouds, and XML data feeds.

Ektron's been running at a fast pace lately. Keeping the momentum, today they've announced their latest off the shelf product, the DMS 400 mid-level document management system.

"Ektron blazed new trails with our Web CMS and will so the same with our DMS," says Bill Rogers, Ektron's CEO.
