MindTouch (news, site) is getting attention from a major player in the document scanning market. Fujitsu has taken it upon themselves to provide the ability for organizations to scan documents into MindTouch directly.

EMC (news, site) has introduced a new designer to its Captiva InputAccel intelligent capture solution that aims to make building document capture processes a lot faster and easier.

For their V8 release, the Austin, Texas-based WCM firm Vignette (news, site) has focused on WebDAV support in an effort to take some off the load of IT departments, and put more control in the hands of end business users. The new release also incorporates AJAX portlets designed to increase access to rich media and social networking apps.

Another European company that is taking on the US market is the Finnish company Motive Systems Oy, which opened its American office in Texas earlier this year, and which has just released v6.0 of its document management system after its initial beta run.

When it opened its US subsidiary in March, the company said it was doing so to capitalize on the accelerating growth and popularity of the document management system M-Files in US and Canadian markets.

At the end of March this year Alfresco (news, site) released version 3.1 of its enterprise content management system. Discussing the new release, VP of Business Development Matt Asay indicated that they had improved support for Kofax Capture. So the announcement that a new extension for Alfresco 3.1 is undergoing beta testing and will soon be ready for general release is no real surprise.

However, it was neither Kofax, nor Alfresco itself that developed the extension, but Alfresco’s partner Micro Strategies did the honors this time.

In the period between November 2007 and November 2008, the company reports a 50% year-over year growth in demand for its secure viewing and collaboration products worldwide.
