Bitcoin is one of those things everyone seems to have heard about — but few people can define and even fewer understand how it works. But maybe it's time that you should learn.
More and more businesses are starting to accept the digital currency: from restaurants and retailers to sports teams and casinos. Last November, Richard Branson announced Virgin Galactic would allow payments in Bitcoins.
Zynga began testing Bitcoin payments for games this month. And now eZanga.com, a search engine and digital marketing company, has opened the virtual vault, too.

In its first salvo in the information management space this year, OpenText has closed the deal to buy GXS for $1.065 billion. The acquisition will give OpenText cutting edge business-to-business cloud integration technology, which will compliment the investments OpenText has made in cloud computing in recent years.

Guess what? New research from IBM shows customers are willing to share their personal information, especially if they get something in return.
Excuse us while we yawn ... But doesn't it seem like anyone who ever signed up for something as innocuous as a store loyalty card could explain the same thing? How many people registered for a website during the heady dot-com days, just to get a free water bottle?
And don't even get us started on the phenomenon of too much information on social media, where everyone shares just about everything, for nothing but 15 seconds of fame in return.
So let's overlook the obvious, and see if there are any deeper insights in the research IBM released this week at the National Retail Federation's 103rd Annual Convention and EXPO in New York City.

Microsoft is using the National Retail Federation's 103rd Annual Convention and EXPO in New York City this week to announce a number of enhancements to its Dynamics AX 2012 product and its Dynamics for Retail, which will reportedly provide retailers with better ways to manage their customer experiences. Microsoft is also using the convention to announce an extended partnership with IBM, Sitecore and Vantiv.
