#e2conf Does Social Software Have a Place in the Enterprise?

The lovely Tony Byrne from over at CMS Watch hung around the Enterprise 2.0 conference this year to talk about the viability of social software in the Enterprise. The verdict? We're still. Not. Sure.

#e2conf Enterprise 2.0: A Load of Crap or Not a Load of Crap?

Is Enterprise 2.0 a sham? Dennis Holwett sure thinks so. Back in August of this year the blogger wrote an article for ZDNet that criticized the entire two-dot-oh approach, citing limited evidence that ruling out hierarchies has actually helped businesses. Needless to say, it stirred up a ton of bat-youknowwhat-crazy conversation.

David Berlind, Content Officer, TechWeb, brought the article to the table at the Enterprise 2.0 conference this week. And though he admitted there might not be many case studies of success, he also pointed out that we certainly have enough cases of failure to get people engaged in helpful conversation about where the Enterprise is headed.

#e2conf A Peek into Adobe's Enterprise 2.0 Mindset

#e2conf Adobe's Enterprise 2.0 MindsetHelp! Enterprise software is failing! At least, that's what Rob Tarkoff, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Business Productivity Solutions, Adobe, said in his presentation at this year's Enterprise 2.0 conference in San Francisco.

Playing on yesterday morning's speed dating with Sharepoint session, Tarkoff used his stage time to offer some "long term relationship" advice, and how Adobe plans to contribute to a customer-driven enterprise.

McAfee explained that while he used to see potential customers approach enterprise tools with skepticism, he's recently noticed a significant shift in attitude. In 2009 alone, McAfee's seen apprehension migrate to some flavor of acceptance or resignation. And though he feels the shift is an overall positive one, in his book there are still a few pesky warning signs that have the potential to cause some struggle:

#e2conf Speed Dating with SharePoint 2010

SharePoint2010_logo_2009.jpgThe keynote stage at this year's Enterprise 2.0 conference in San Francisco is lit in a nice blue light, conveniently complementing the red and white checkered cloth covering the table set up in the center. There's a small vase of yellow flowers and a bottle of wine resting on top.

But wait, isn't this the Enterprise we're to be talking about? Yes. Yes it is. But to Christian Finn and Alina Fu, Director of SharePoint Product Management and Product Manager of Microsoft's Social Computing sector respectfully, the best way to show off SharePoint 2010's enhancements is to take us on a little date.
