Adobe wants mobile business users, and its free Reader App opens the door. Just three months ago, the company extended security and digital signature functionality to beef up its pervasive free desktop app, allowing EchoSign functionality that began targeting mobile transactions with "one-stop-shop" for e-Signatures. Now the company is sweetening the pot with free e-signatures so anyone can sign and send documents electronically, without printing or faxing, the company said. 

It’s been busy this week in document management. Adobe bought EchoSign and is being sued over alleged patent infringements by the latter, there was a considerable amount of movement on the document standards front, eFileCabinet is heading for the cloud, docuSTAR releases Eclipse v2.0, while ibml also upgraded with the new release of its capture suite.

Today we all moved one step closer to the elusive paperless office with Adobe’s (news, site) announcement of its newest acquisition -- electronic signature provider EchoSign (news, site).  Adobe will be integrating the technology into a number of its products and perhaps improve the adoption of electronic signature technology in general.

Occasionally, even those operating in the cloud have to concern themselves with real-world trivialities such as signing legal contracts. EchoSign and SugarCRM (news, site) just made that a little easier for their users.

While Lexmark announced last week that it was moving into the Enterprise CMS space with the acquisition of Perceptive, Dell continues its move into the managed services market by adding document management to its printers. Alfresco is also making moves by making content migration to its ECM easier than ever.

Document management and workflow purveyor SpringCM is partnering with EchoSign, which provides electronic signature automation.

EchoSign is availing its signature system to SpringCM clientele, as well as the Contract Accelerator for Salesforce.com, with which SpringCM fully integrates.

One nifty thing about EchoSign is it lets users “sign” documents electronically from any browser. This means you don’t have to run to FedEx Kinko’s to use that oldfangled fax machine-a-majig.
