The Apache Lucene Connector Framework (LCF) has reached the next stage toward becoming an official Apache (news, site) project.

Not long after announcing their new EMC Documentum DFS Connector, EntropySoft (news, site) officially announces they can also connect to EMC CenterStage and that they will support CMIS.

One of those comes from EMC (news, site) who have just announced that they intend to apply for MoReq2 certification for Documentum Records Manager next year.

EMC has a number of solutions for information governance and life-cycle management that can manage documents from creation to editing to archiving to destruction, depending on what its users need.

A quick update on the EMC (news, site) Documentum xCP Designer's Challenge we told you about last month. The challenge, initiated May, was open to anyone who wanted to demonstrate how easy it was to build real world case management applications using EMC Documentum xCP.

xCP is a platform that allows you to build and deliver case-based solutions rapidly. It includes pre-packaged and pre-integrated components for content management, business process management, monitoring and reporting, compliance, intelligent capture, collaboration and customer communications management.

The winner of the Challenge were announced yesterday at Momentum Europe 2009. It was Booz Allen Hamilton for its RoadPulse Application. Developed in 8 days, it is a local and state government notification system for infrastructure concerns.

Second place went to Avantias for its Education Center application and third went to Trends Global for its Healthcare Content Collaboration Gateway application.

The Designer's Challenge was definitely a smart way for EMC to show the world how easy it is to build case management solutions on their xCP platform. Seeing it in action is much better than reading the marketing buzz.

Brava for Legal ISE!

No really. Informative Graphics Corporation (news, site) announced a partnership with Trinity Technologies that will integrate IGC's Brava with Trinity's Legal ISE suite.

The suite acts as both a content management and legal discovery platform for EMC Documentum clients and now plans to offer e-viewing, collaboration and redaction options courtesy of Brava and Redact-It Enterprise.

If you are hanging out at the AIIM Conference the next few days, you are going to hear some interesting news and announcements from EMC (news, site). Along with some revealing research conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit, sponsored by EMC, on the impact and importance of organizational agility, EMC is also announcing some new solutions designed to help customers work smarter.

EMC Corporation -- an Enterprise CMS, and information management and infrastructure vendor -- announced that it expects an all-time quarterly revenue record for its Q4 2008. The preliminary results show expected revenue of approximately US$ 4 billion, which is approximately 8% revenue growth over Q3 2008, and 4% growth over the same period a year ago.

On the not-so-optimistic side, EMC also announced its plans to cut as many as 2,400 jobs, representing approximately 7% of its entire workforce.
