Atlassian (news, site) bags a US$ 60 million investment to open up wider horizons for the Aussie rags-to-riches bug-busting and collaboration company.

Atlassian (news, site) comes to the table with the latest release of the Confluence enterprise wiki. Version 3.1's support for OpenSocial Gadgets makes it easy to add new functionality to Confluence and Confluence to other applications.

In April Atlassian (news, site) launched the Atlassion Stimulus Package, a 5 day offer to purchase a 5-user license for Confluence or JIRA for only US$ 5. All proceeds of the sale of those licenses went to the Room to Read Charity.

In the end, the sales totaled US$ 110,000, and Atlassian concentrated their donation on Cambodia, building 16 libraries, providing a year of education to 68 girls and publishing one Khmer Language Storybook.

Today, they come out with a new offer, again aimed at the small business market, with all proceeds going to the Room to Read charity. But this time there is no end date for the offer.

According to Laura Kahlil of Atlassion, "Atlassian is making a commitment to help small teams keep their costs down and to provide continued educational opportunities for children who need it the most."

Atlassian joins a number of other content management industry vendors doing something to make the world a better place. Others include: Kentico (Kentico Goes Green, Plants a Tree for Every Bug in v4.1) and KnowledgeTree (KnowledgeTree's Green Initiative, Plants a Tree for A New Sale).

With Brazil stampeding alongside the rest of the BRIC economically-rising nations, eTouch (news, site) gets on board with a reseller agreement for its business-friendly SamePage wiki.

eTouch's seemingly never-ending SamePage expansion continues with a newly announced partnership with Novateccorp of Brazil to resell the popular business enterprise wiki in the booming Latin American nation.

Already multi-lingual, the product should have little difficultly fitting in among rapidly growing businesses looking for collaboration, knowledge management building and information sharing systems.

Novateccorp has a strong local content management and documentation background and will be well positioned to help promote SamePage's cause in Brazil.

SamePage uses J2EE powered applications to help companies rapidly create new ways to improve the way they store, share and use information.

eTouch has also recently added SamePage to Salesforce.com's AppExchange and MySMBStore.com.

When your solution is up against a number of others in the market, you need to find ways to promote your offering where your market will look. eTouch (news, site) did that earlier this year for their SamePage enterprise wiki.

Atlassian (news, site) says they don't implement features just for the sake of it. That all enhancements to their solutions are based on customer feedback and needs. With the latest release of their enterprise wiki, Confluence, we see that some of these needs are universal across the Enterprise 2.0 market today. All show just how far the wiki has come in only a few short years.

It’s a season of change at Palo Alto-based wiki startup Socialtext.

The company has just announced its appointment of Eugene Lee as Chief Executive Officer and member of its board. It has also stated that it has closed a Series C funding round of US$ 9.5 million.

At the O’Reilly Web 2.0 Summit, Atlassian announced a liaison between its Confluence enterprise wiki offering and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

Both SharePoint and Confluence users will be able to access one another’s technologies. The connecting vein will include search, content sharing, linking, single sign-on and security.

This is one more effort to harness collaborative energies via social computing tactics on an ECM platform.

“Despite the hype, we’ve learned that most large institutions are still not using wikis yet,” mused Aniruddha Gadre, CEO of eTouch.

Socialtext has just released a plugin that supports Movable Type 4. It enables users to post on both MT4 and the Socialtext wiki simultaneously — tags included.
