eeZ Publish Welcomes a New Community ManagerThe eZ Publishing community (news, site) has just landed themselves a new Community Manger.

Nicolas Pastorino is no stranger to the company. He steps into the Community Manager role having already acted as eZ's Expert Consultant at eZ Systems Western Europe, an eZ Labs Engineer and a member of the Product Management team.

"We need a full time Community Manager," says Bertrand Maugain VP Marketing at eZ. "Nicolas's experience from some of the most demanding projects as well as from eZ Labs development team will be very important in that new position."

"One of the key responsibilities of the Community Management team is to help accelerating such a process via a brand new platform, meant to be a central communication means, strongly connected to the currently existing community tools and websites," said Pastorino. "It will be launched on November 2nd."

eZ Systems and PolySpot Partner for Enhanced Enterprise Search

eZ Systems and PolySpot Partner for Enhanced Enterprise Search Enterprise search seems to be a hot topic today. PolySpot (news, site), a French company that provides such solutions, recently announced that they’re going to be collaborating with the ever-popular eZ Systems (news, site).

Like several other solutions on the enterprise search block, PolySpot's technology filters through numerous types of resources including secured files stored either within the enterprise or externally. By hooking up with eZ Systems, users can access eZ Publish's digital content management resources through the PolySpot interface. Seemingly big fans of the open source CMS, this partnership also nicely highlights PolySpot’s recent eZ Publish connector.

"We are very excited about this collaboration,” said Roland Benedetti, vice president Product Management, eZ Systems. “Simply connecting eZ Publish with PolySpot Enterprise Search represents an exciting opportunity for our common users. They will then be able to benefit from a comprehensive and coherent information access system on which IT departments can rely on.”

#ezconf - Tony White on The Evolving Web CMS Market

Tony White of the Gilbane Group began his talk on the evolution of the Web CMS market with an observation. White, apparently something of an early-bird, spotted 22 people in his hotel lobby at 6:30 a.m. this morning. Over half of the people there were taking advantage of the free wifi to browse the Web, while only one person was reading a newspaper. He asked the attendees to imagine how different the behavior of his fellow early risers would have been even as little as five years back.

In a fast-paced talk, White went on to share some of his observations as a consultant specialist in Web CMS. He resumed the market briefly as a wide spectrum from low-end point solutions to complex enterprise platforms, with almost no correlation to price, and warned attendees of putting too much trust into analysis that assume a correlation between cost and quality, as it may not be the case.
