J2 Global Upgrades Mobile Apps eFax for Android, eVoice for iOS

While the original patents pre-date the California Gold Rush (1849), the humble fax machine is still relevant today and getting a 21st century update with a new eFax app for Android. The new app targets businesses with mobile capabilities that help manage and move important documents anytime, anywhere, "keeping productivity on the fast track".

The company also announced eVoice, a "radically better phone number" with the availability of its latest mobile application for Apple devices. Now, iOS users can make and receive VoIP phone calls over multiple networks including WiFi connection, 3G/4G. This includes offering iPad users phone capabilities, even with no wireless carrier chip.

Open Text Provides Fax Services for Exchange 2010

Now Open Text (news, site)  has upgraded its enterprise content management suite’s fax functionality so that it too works with MES 2010.

While there will be a lot of stick-in-the-mud document management software vendors who would argue that enterprises shouldn’t be using fax in the first place, the reality is that for most companies fax and faxing is still an important business tool.

In fact many companies who have invested considerable money in network-based fax capabilities could see their investments heading south with the launch of MES 2010 if the two cannot be integrated.

To help combat fax management issues, Open Text, an Enterprise CMS provider, announced a new version of their Open Text Fax Server. The Fax Server software serves as an electronic way to deliver and manage paper faxes. Along with the news about the Fax Server update, Open Text has also revealed their Open Text Fax Server Connector for MOSS. This connector software will allow organizations to capture and deliver fax documents within SharePoint.
