Photos and video are so easy to shoot on phones, it is easy to overlook the quality differences, and few of us shoot enough video across devices to compare the results. So, Nokia is taking its message to the streets (well, YouTube) with direct comparisons against rival models.

 Commercials are funny things, never more so than when one brand compares itself against another. So, here we see Microsoft trying to raise the profile of Windows Phones, and the Nokia Lumia 920, by challenging users of Samsung's current hero. 

 To cover all bases, and hand sizes, Samsung is entering the shrinking game with the announcement of a smaller-model Galaxy S3 smartphone. Will all smart devices soon come in a range of glove sizes?

Regardless of how happy users are with their current phones, the makers are always pushing new levels of performance at us. Samsung's latest quad-core chip will power the next-generation Galaxy smartphone and future tablets, and push performance to new heights.

Samsung has outed the date, ahead of an impending official announcement, for the reveal of its latest superphone, the Galaxy S3. The date will give it some headway against the presumed iPhone 5 unveiling in June.

For the sellers of smartphones and their stockholders, the numbers in this week's financial reports were all important. For us users, however, we'd just like a phone that works and has some neat features. But those crazy numbers will have some interesting effects on what we be seeing in 2012.
