GRC Roll-up: Microsoft Office Security Enhanced, Autonomy Closes Iron Mountain Buy

This week, Microsoft announced that it will be enhancing the security of Office with the acquisition of Prodiance, kCura upgrades its e-Discovery platform, Autonomy closes acquisition of Iron Mountain’s digital assets and gets DoD certification for Records Manager, while Aveska offers governance for unstructured content in SharePoint.

GRC Roll-up: Gartner Releases E-Discovery Magic Quadrant; RSA, SOA Integrate for Cloud Security

The big event in the GRC space this week was the release of Gartner’s first Magic Quadrant for e-Discovery. Otherwise, RSA and SOA have integrated to provide cloud security, OpenLogic offers new collaboration capabilities for compliance, Iron Mountain shows that enterprises are still struggling to find files, while companies worried about GRC can learn it from ARC Logics.

Enabling Risk Management Across the Organization

An article that caught my eye last week was a piece by Ron Ashkenas in the Huffington Post Business section: Every Manager is a Risk Manager. Now, Ron does not have a background as a practicing risk officer, so his knowledge and understanding of risk management is not perfect; but he makes an interesting point. Most of the time, the (as he puts it) “official risk management function usually only addresses the most critical [risks].” But managers are facing and managing risks in the ordinary course of their business, on a daily basis.

GRC Roll-up: Symantec Adds Social Media Archiving; Recommind, LexisNexis Partner

There were a number of new releases in the GRC space this week including an announcement from Symantec that it is releasing its upgraded Enterprise Vault 10 later this year, a new release of MetricStream’s GRC platform, Bridgeway has also upgraded LawManager, while Recommind and LexisNexis have formed a partnership, as have BWise and PwC.

There have been a number of new releases recently in the GRC space, with SAS upgrading its GRC suite, QUMAS offering document and records compliance in SharePoint, GRC monitoring for social media from SocialLogix, while Symantec adds to its SaaS offering. New research for Bloomberg also shows that enterprises are moving to hosted email for compliance reasons.

GRC Roll-up: GRC is Good for Application Upgrades, is Iron Mountain Selling Off Its Digital Business?

While there hasn’t been a lot in terms of new releases this week, the ongoing problems in Iron Mountain are again in the spotlight, while research from both the not-for-profit ISACA, as well as SaaS GRC vendor Compliance 360, shows that compliance will be the major concern for enterprises in the coming 12 months. GRC was also mentioned at last week’s Oracle Collaborate conference.
