5 Critical Steps to SharePoint Information Architecture Planning

If you want to successfully implement SharePoint in your organization, then you need to clearly define and manage your information architecture (IA). There are a number of things you need to do to define your SharePoint IA and here are five critical steps to ensure you are on the right track.

Revisiting the 3 Questions for Great Experience Design

2010 is proving to be about user experience. Even in the past few weeks, we have covered the trends and needs associated with improving usability online, from web design to promoting transparency.

With the upcoming MX: Managing Experience conference that will focus on usability and user experience best practices, we'd like like to revisit the three key variables Jared Spool once indicated as being critically important to the field.

Contest: Explain IA and Win Prizes (and Respect)

What is Information Architecture? Why is it important?

The Information Architecture Institute hopes that you can tell them. They have launched a contest called Explain IA, in which users are invited to explain information architecture.

Anyone can enter, but only IA Institute members can vote for the winners.

You can submit your explanation (up to 3) in a format that suits you best. It can be:

  • twitter-ese (limited to 140 characters or less)
  • through video or audio, or
  • using text or photos.

Simply enter the contest at www.flickr.com/groups/explainia/ and submit your response.

Those selected by the IA Institute can win up to US$ 1,000 and a host of other prizes offered by their generous sponsors.

What are you waiting for? The world patiently awaits your explanation, so the rest of us can finally explain just what it is that you do.

Creately Delivers Online, Collaborative Wireframe Tool

Creately Delivers Online, Collaborative Wireframe ToolOver the past month, many of us have discovered Creately, an online application for creating diagrams, flowcharts and wireframes. Nominated for best Rich Internet Applications of 2009 over at O’Reilly media, Creately has received some other attention, as well.

Creately lets users share and publish drawings with other users so as to garner comments and support. It boasts itself as easy and it's full of lots of features that make the chore of creating charts, site maps and other user-intensive models kinda fun.
