 This week team Joomla (news, site) announced another baby step toward the release of the much anticipated v1.6 of their platform. Joomla 1.6 Alpha 2 brings with it enhancements in popular areas such as Access Control List (ACL), as well as several others:      

The next major release of the Joomla web content management system will be Joomla v1.6 (news, site). This version has been in the works for some time, and was released as a public alpha version earlier this year.

The most significant changes for this release are the new advanced security and permissions features. These provide system administrators control over who can edit what and access which components, modules and plugins.

You can do seemingly almost anything from an iPhone, including Manage your Joomla! (news, site) based websites.

After a couple weeks of serious nail biting, the team behind J Admin Mobile-- an iPhone app for remote management of any Joomla! 1.5 powered website--is happy to announce that Apple has approved the1.4.0 release.

Well kids, after four years as one of the most popular content management systems on the ‘net, Joomla! 1.0.x is throwing in the towel.

Joomla! (news, site) recently announced the end of all development tasks, security upgrades and community support for the first version of the 1.0.x series. All energy will reportedly be refocused on the new 1.6 family.
