This week in the document management space, OpenText extends its offerings on the Azure platform, we find that document security is still an issue with SharePoint users, Box gets easier email management, Kofax extends its document capture abilities, Zylpha offers secure document transfer and SmartSoft offers OCR.

Social software provider NewsGator and Vizit, a social collaboration solution provider for SharePoint, announced that they've integrated their software to improve viewing, commenting and conversation abilities for SharePoint users.

The first roll-up of the New Year and things are already beginning to move. If you want to look ahead, the Real Story Group has released its market analysis for 2012, while a number of companies including Cabinet NG, Kofax, Aptus and Accusoft Pegasus have new releases or upgrades worth looking at.

In the document management space, it was always going to be interesting to see who would get the ball rolling for 2012. Kofax, as one of the most active companies last year in terms of product development and acquisitions, looks set to continue its momentum, this time with the release of Kofax DotImage Enterprise Edition.

This week in the document management space, Nuxeo and TEMIS integrate seeing Luxid connecting natively to Nuxeo Semantic Entities, Kofax buys Singularity, docStar releases v3.12 and IPS releases an attachment processing system.

OpenText announced it has set up a separate business unit for its BPM acquisitions, and the release of a document-sharing product. Mindjet has released a SharePoint connector, Quadrant has announced a partnership and Kofax Capture picks up a document management award. Meanwhile, DocuLex gets health certification for document management.

It may have been Labor Day weekend, but it’s been a busy week in the document management mines. Kofax has announced it is to go public after some impressive results for the year, Google is offering offline Gmail, Formtek and Ephesoft have partnered for better capture and ARX is offering mobile document signatures for SharePoint.

For the second time this week, there have been releases in the document imaging space. Earlier in the week, Nuance announced the release of PaperPort Professional 14. This time it’s the turn of Kofax (news, site), which released Atalasoft DotImage 10.

It may be the holiday season, but there’s still activity in the document management software space. This week Nuance connects scanning to over 20 different clouds, Workshare upgrades its document exchange abilities, Kofax took a look at document capture in the enterprise, while AnyDocs got healthy. We also took a look at what exactly business process management is.

This week, we look at why users of Google Docs, and more generally Google Apps, will have to upgrade their browsers, the new Kofax and Pegasystems integration, Nuxeo’s DM upgrade, Cabinet NG’s enhancements to CNG-WEB and the possible release of Office 365 by the end of June.

This week Intel is chasing SMBs with new targeted, cloud services, social media use continues to rise in the SMB space with Facebook still the most popular application, Citrix bought desktop virtualization startup Kaviza and KnowledgeTree offers mobile document management.

You may recall from last week that Kofax gobbled-up Atalasoft (news, site) with the aim of adding the latter’s SDK to its capture and transformation module. The price was right and so were terms of the deal. But Kofax didn’t get all of Atalasoft, although maybe it should have tried considering Vizit -- one of Atalasoft's products -- has spun off on its own and is targeting the SharePoint market.

This week, Kofax decided to enhance its SDK with the acquisition of Atalasoft, Nuance upgrades to OmniPage 18, Microsoft tells us why Office 365 is good for Mac, First to File extends patent document management reach and Google looks set to introduce Google Docs Offline this summer -- again.

Acquisition fever continues apace, this time with the announcement by Kofax (news, site) that it is to buy Atalasoft (news, site) in a deal that will see see it add to Atalasoft’s SDK and offer it for use with its capture and transformation modules software by the end of the year.

This week, Microsoft has announced details of its upcoming Service Packs for Office on PC and Mac, Perceptive’s ImageNow integrates with Dynamics AX, Motive’s Cloud Vault is launched on Azure, Kofax releases Express 2.5 and Nuance releases its new PDF Connector.
