Even with the Thanksgiving Weekend, there’s been a lot in the GRC space, including the recent upgrade from Laserfiche, SOA’s enhanced Repository Manager, the EU has said it is going to tighten up on data privacy, Compliance 360 looks into its crystal, while Iron Mountain and O’Neil partner.

Yesterday we saw in the Forrester Wave for Enterprise CMS Suites 2011 for Q4 that there is a shift in the enterprise CMS market away from the big, lumbering giants of a couple of years ago toward more content-centric apps designed to fulfill a specific business function. Today, we’ll take a look at how some of the major vendors are dealing with this challenge.

Discussion around the evolving role of enterprise CMS and the software that aims to do that are almost a weekly phenomenon. This week’s discussion comes in the shape of the Forrester Wave for ECM Suites for Q4, which highlights a number of issues that we already saw in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for enterprise CMS last week.

In the GRC space this week, there’s a lot of records management updates. Laserfiche has been showing off its iPhone records management app at ARMA, DocFinity has released a records management module, StoredIQ has also been working in records management, RSA and McAfee have formed a new partnership and Autonomy has released new policy management software.

Looks like vacations in document-management land are coming to an end. This week alone, Box enhanced its mobile document management offerings, Metalogix offers content migration from SharePoint to Documentum, PSIGEN offers Office 365 scanning, Cabinet NG upgrades CNG-WEB, and Fijitsu offers scanning for Laserfiche.

In light of the recent acquisition of BPM vendor Global 360 by OpenText, the question of the relationship between enterprise content management (ECM) and integrated business process management (BPM) software is, once again, in the spotlight.

This week, Hyland released v11 of OnBase, Nuxeo announced it has made its document management software available for Ubuntu, Laserfiche has announced a Systems Integrator Program, M-Files offers support for Microsoft Dynamics GP and Adeptol released an SDK for its image viewing platform.

The official release of Office 365 is expected today. Over the past week, there has been a lot of activity in the office productivity suite space, particularly with Google, which should see some interesting times ahead when Office goes to market. Laserfiche made its document management software mobile on the iPad, and AIIM says SharePoint users are still looking to third-party vendors.

This week, Laserfiche gets eForm and document automation tools through LincWare, Google announces that it will be making it easier to upload docs into Docs, Adobe rushes to protect Acrobat and Reader from hackers, Nuxeo connects to Amazon S3 while Executive and Kyocera enables users to scan and index documents to Google.

As our month's focus on enterprise collaboration draws to a close, we know now that collaboration is the act of working together towards a common goal and enterprise collaboration is a group of people working to achieve the goals agreed upon by those in an enterprise. Over the past couple of years, we have seen a large number of Enterprise CMS vendors develop software products to help people in the enterprise do just that.

Laserfiche (news, site) has recently been granted certification for full compliance with the Australian government's Victorian Records Management Standard, along with other certifications. This means Laserfiche is now eligible to provide services and solutions that require long-term availability of documents in electronic format, particularly for government projects.

This week in GRC news, Trend Micro offers Android data protection, Proofpoint research indicates that e-Discovery is moving to the cloud -- with a new release from Applied Discovery offering hosted e-Discovery that backs that research up -- and Laserfiche releases v8.2 focusing on GRC.
