For those in desperate need of definition when it comes to Records Management, we’ve got some advice from Jonathan Powers, a Tech Writer at Laserfiche (news, site). At this year’s Empower 2010, Powers took us back to the basics and promised martinis as a reward for lending him our ears.

Possible coming attractions include several usability updates to PhotoDocs 8.2, an online Laserfiche admin console called WebAdmin, overhauled and enhanced integration with Microsoft Office for Laserfiche 8.2 and Laserfiche Mobile for the iPhone.

Pulte Financial Services has managed to become the wholly-owned subsidiary of the absolute largest home builder in the U.S., so we’d say there’s at least one thing they’re doing right.

Falling in line with the focus on teamwork in the keynote speech given by Laserfiche’s (news, site) CEO and President Nien-Ling Wacker at this year’s Empower 2010, Christy Richardson, Pulte’s very own Director of Web Systems, schooled us on how it all starts with putting together the right project team.

Energy ran high yesterday during the first keynote at Empower 2010, an annual Institute Conference held by Enterprise Content Management solution provider, Laserfiche (news, site). Armed with good spirits, several analogies and Coldplay on full blast, Laserfiche President and CEO Nien-Ling Wacker addressed this year’s audience—a record 1,200 attendees—with the gusto of a really, really proud parent.

It has just teamed up with Laserfiche (news, site) to create the Trusted Edge Intelligent Email Archive solution for Laserfiche, effectively extending Laserfiche’s enterprise content management functionality by enabling it to tackle unstructured email content.

With 2010 a mere two weeks away, Laserfiche (news, site) is already setting the bar in records management by announcing that it has renewed its DoD 5015.2 V3 certification, and added certification for physical records management.

The physical records certification comes with the integration with Infolinx a provider of both custom and commercial-off-the-shelf records and information management system software, and a Professional Developer Program partner of Laserfiche.

On its own, Laserfiche Records Management Edition (RME) is a version of Laserfiche's enterprise content management system is that enables users track the life cycle of records in Laserfiche repositories and ensures compliance with the regulatory criteria for DoD 5015.2 V3 certification.

DoD 5015.2 V3 certification also means that Laserfiche has developed an information management system that complies with Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, USA PATRIOT Act, SEC and FINRA, amongst others.

For its part, Infolinx brings to the table barcode and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which enables physical file and electronic record tracking as well as retention schedule management, color-coded label printing and document imaging into RME.

By extending RME to include physical records management, Laserfiche now has more certified components than any other vendor, Tom Wayman Product Strategy VP says, although there will undoubtedly some vendors who disagree.

With a large base of federal, state and local government organizations in its client portfolio, the commercial value of achieving DoD 5015.2 V3 cannot be overestimated and with mounting compliance and transparency pressures across the industry it is only a matter of time before vendors in the records management space are going to have to go the same route.

Following on the heals of their announcement to support SharePoint 2010, Laserfiche (news, site) announced that it is opening up shop in Hong Kong.

Based in Long Beach, California, the company says that the new office aims to make it easier for  companies in the Asia Pacific region to access their Rio Enterprise CMS product, although it is a given that they will be pushing their Business Process Management (BPM) and Personal Document Management (PDM) software as well.

There are a lot of vendor announcements coming out of the SharePoint Conference on a daily basis. Some of these concern enhancements to SharePoint 2007 solutions. Many, are about announcing support for SharePoint 2010.

What happens when we make a comment about it being a while since we've heard from Laserfiche (news, site)? They suddenly burst with new news. In this case the new news, following shortly after the announcement of WebLink 8, consists of a document imaging and capture tool.

Quick Fields 8 works on the front-end of Laserfiche's ECM product suite, allowing each department to customize capture and image processing for their own forms, documents, and data.

You know them for their document management and records management systems, but today Laserfiche has moved a step further into the world of enterprise content management with the announcement of Laserfiche Rio, a combination of their enterprise document management software and business process management software.

Laserfiche says Rio is the enterprise content management solution you’ve been looking for. And guess what? — It integrates with SharePoint.

Laserfiche is showcasing its latest document management offering at AIIM in Boston this week, a release which focuses on integrating content with business processes. Laserfiche 8 aims to provide an open, scalable, service-oriented architecture, enabling organizations to unify content from disparate sources in various formats.

Document Management vendor Laserfiche has just showcased Laserfiche 8 at its annual conference in Los Angeles. Delegates were treated to an extensive preview of the product which will hit the shelves shortly.

Laserfiche believes that the new product will streamline delivery channels from point of capture to end users and repositories. They reckon a SOA and unification of information from disparate sources, in multiple formats, will achieve exactly that.
