Gartner’s 2011 Magic Quadrant for the Enterprise Content Management industry confirms what many suspect: The content management landscape is changing quickly, and changing dramatically. Today we look at the market changes identified in the Gartner report, while tomorrow we will look at which vendors it has identified in the Leader's Quadrant.

This week, after announcing its release in March, SAP has put BusinessObjects 10 GRC on general release, Google gets some more security certification, BMC offers cloud Lifecycle Management to mitigate the risks associated with cloud computing outages, and Hostway offers email encryption.

Microsoft and SAP have finally released the polished version of their recent joint Duet program that ties SAP (news, site) software with Microsoft (news, site) applications. In 2005, when the project was originally launched they tied Office with SAP’s enterprise resourced planning software, this time they tie SAP and SharePoint 2010.

If IBM’s (news, site)  stock slid on Tuesday after it announced second quarter revenues that were a tad lower than market expectations, then no one at IBM appears particularly panicked as it still reported profits of US$ 3.4bn, up 9% on the same quarter last year and expects to finish off this year with revenues fully on target.

ECM goliath Open Text has just announced the development of a fledgling integrated solution with Microsoft. The pair hope to build an offering for matter lifecycle management and practice support, targeting global law firms.
