There was an interesting article in the NextGen Journal earlier this month.
It argues that every social media manager should be be under 25 years of age. As one might expect, it has stirred up its share of attention (7.5 k Facebook “likes,” 1727 tweets and 872 Google+) and controversy (especially from those of us who are over 25).

Over time Hootsuite has added more and more social media apps and extensions. Within 2012 alone, they’ve extended functionality to support Diggs, Trendspottr, RSS feeds, MailChimp and LinkedIn Company Pages. Today, they've integrated Instagam, Slideshare, edocr and Zuum into the social media management dashboard.

Yesterday we reported that Hootsuite was extending access to LinkedIn company pages to all of it users. Such access will help community managers better monitor their communities from within one platform. Not to be outdone, LinkedIn announced that companies can now deliver targeted status updates to members following company pages.

Hootsuite has been busy the past few weeks. Two weeks ago they announced a partnership with HubSpot to connect social media to generating, managing and nurturing leads. Shortly before that they introduced HootSuite Teams, designed to help businesses manage their social identity more effectively across multiple networks. Today, they expanded their LinkedIn beta to all HootSuite users and will be offering comprehensive support to LinkedIn Company Pages.
