There are two things we like about Mainsoft's (news, site) latest solutions: 1) they enable us to connect our Outlook client with SharePoint or Google Apps and 2) they are free.

 

IBM (news, site) showed the mobile world some love at Lotusphere 2010 when they announced the extension of some of their apps to iPhone and BlackBerry devices.

Yes, Mainsoft (news, site) is hanging out at Lotusphere this week. But the talk doesn't have to be all about IBM and Lotus does it? Well technically yes, it does. Mainsoft is just sprinkling in a bit of SharePoint 2010 to make it all that much more interesting.

Nuxeo (news, site) shared the news that their Galaxy program partner metaLogic Consulting Inc. (who is also an IBM partner of more than 12 years) has built software for migration from some of Big Blue's products to the Nuxeo open source Enterprise CMS.

While the software won’t be officially available until spring, it’s being demoed away starting today at Lotusphere 2010 in Orlando, FL, until January 21.

Why migrate from IBM to Nuxeo you ask? One reason could be the fact that Lotus Domino Document Manager has been discontinued in 2009 and if you’re looking for a migration path, here’s this option.

Meanwhile, IBM is offering its entitled Lotus Domino Document Manager customers a migration to IBM Lotus Quickr that comes with either IBM Content Manager Collaboration Edition or IBM FileNet Content Manager Collaboration Edition.

As described in metaLogic’s blog post, the toolset they produced is designed for migration of email and documents from Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino Document Manager into Nuxeo’s repository. Customizable and configurable, the software can be used in either user-centric or server-centric way.

Alfresco (news, site) got friendly with IBM Lotus today via a (soon to be available) integration of the Alfresco Enterprise CMS with IBM Lotus Quickr, Lotus Notes, Lotus Connections and WebSphere Portal.

BA Insights, a provider of content connectors, has just released the latest in a line of application connectors for SharePoint: Salesforce Connector for SharePoint.

The Salesforce Connector enables you to access data in Salesforce.com CRM applications and Force.com cloud-based applications within SharePoint search.

Earlier this month we talked about how Mainsoft (news, site) was helping integrate SharePoint and IBM Rational Team Concert, providing SharePoint collaboration capabilities inside the Team Concert world. Good stuff for project teams.

But what about organizations who live inside their Lotus Notes environments? They also need some SharePoint love. And Mainsoft is providing it to them as well with the latest version of their Mainsoft SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes.

We know it's true that Microsoft leads the way on office productivity with MS Office and Outlook/Exchange. But we also know that Lotus Notes still has a solid market share for e-mail as well. And it wouldn't be a stretch to believe that even organizations with Lotus Notes also have at least one SharePoint implementation.

All good news for Mainsoft as they release the latest version of their SharePoint Integrator for Lotus Notes.

Oracle comes to rescue the Enterprise 2.0 corporate bees with its new solution dubbed Beehive that aims to allow employees to collaborate through electronic workspaces, calendar, IM, e-mail, voice mail and conferencing applications.

All of that is done in the name of collaboration and the ability to easily share and simultaneously work on documents, e-mails and multimedia files.

Mainsoft likes to integrate SharePoint and IBM Products. They’ve done it with IBM’s WebSphere Portal and with Lotus Notes. Today they are announcing that the Lotus Integration is going a few steps further covering more versions of the popular email client and Lotus Sametime.

AvePoint, a provider of data protection and management solutions for SharePoint, has released DocAve 5.0, the newest version of its flagship MOSS infrastructure management software platform.

The company boasts “groundbreaking new functionalities” in the release that was primarily focused around the enhanced user interface, brand new modules and “intelligent” SharePoint backup and recovery.

Open Text is expanding its ECM portfolio by announcing a new solution for e-mail management targeted at law firms.

The solution — Open Text E-mail Lifecycle Management for Law Firms — combines such features as e-mail filing and archiving and aims to help firms to define, secure and control the e-mail management and retention processes according to compliance mandates and internal policies.
