Oh to have been a fly on the wall at Lotusphere 2010 this past week. With what seemed like a never-ending ode to enterprise social computing, IBM (news, site) announced a number of updates and new projects that must have generated lots of excited whispers in the corners.

Alfresco (news, site) got friendly with IBM Lotus today via a (soon to be available) integration of the Alfresco Enterprise CMS with IBM Lotus Quickr, Lotus Notes, Lotus Connections and WebSphere Portal.

IBM’s (news site) Lotus Web Content Management System is to ship with a second HTML editor following the announcement of a new OEM partnership with Ephox, the web content authoring software developer of EditLive.

According to Ephox (news,site), the new editor is for non-technical business users who do not know how to manipulate HTML and who are likely to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

In November we announced that Mainsoft (news, site) had released a beta of their latest solution, Document Collaboration for Rational Jazz, SharePoint Edition. It offered IBM Rational Jazz teams the ability to store their documents within SharePoint and access that SharePoint document library directly in Jazz.

They have now released the final version of that solution and it offers integration with not only SharePoint, but Lotus Quickr as well.

Time to make authoriing content in Lotus Quickr quick and easy. IBM and Ephox have announced the integration of EditLive into IBM's collaboration software, Lotus Quickr. This is just another integration in a long line of integrations for EditLive.

Mainsoft continues to bridge the divide between Java and .Net. Today they announced the Beta release of Mainsoft Document Collaboration for Rational Jazz, SharePoint Edition.

If there was ever to be one though, it should come as no surprise that IBM is that vendor. The newest release of their Collaboration software, Quickr, comes with a content integrator tool designed to help organizations move away from the dreaded viral software that SharePoint is fast becoming to the software company that use to claim that “viral” title.

You may think they are coming from behind, but if the product demonstrations that occurred at Lotusphere are any indication, IBM is in the fast lane of Web 2.0 tools and technologies and must have been there for while.

From updates to Lotus Notes and Domino, to new versions of Lotus Connections and new products like Lotus Mashups, IBM is approaching Web 2.0 not from a cool technology standpoint – but from a business needs standpoint.
