Today is the second day of the Computer World Open Source Business conference and it's big. No really, it's big. The four main topic areas: Big Data, Big Cloud, Big Legal Problems and Big Money. The conference is being held at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square in San Francisco.

Open source content management provider Magnolia (news,site) has set a clear, but lofty aspiration for itself – provide the best user experience of any web-based CMS on the market. Magnolia has set a goal and is adjusting its focus to achieve it. The company has selected web framework Vaadin to revamp its interface and, it hopes, become known for the most intuitive user interface in the market.

Normally in this space we look back over the current month and forward into the next month at what the various open source CMS projects are up to. But rather than blindly putting out an update for January, we thought we'd look farther ahead into what everyone wants to accomplish throughout next year. Call it our open source 2010 predictions with less guesswork and high hopes.

Recently, the open source Magnolia CMS (news, site) saw its 4.2 version light that brings hierarchical data modeling, simpler integrations with external data sources, updated STK and a new node-builder extending the JSR-170 standard.
