Kaltura Provides Video to WordPress

Video has quickly become one of the fastest growing media formats on the Internet, and that seems like a logical thing to occur. It makes sense that a company would attempt to integrate an interactive video solution into WordPress and Kaltura is the first solution that we've seen to address this. It is a decent try, but it is far from perfect.

Bizyweb

Content management terminology changes with time. The times of the Micro CMS may soon be gone, as now it appears it is the era of the “simple CMS,” -- at least as positioned by Bizy, Inc. They have announced the distribution of their "simple CMS" product Bizyweb. Were they joking?

New WCM called Edicy

If you were under the impression that the WCM market was overpopulated, think again. There's yet another addition to the happy WCM family – a little baby named Edicy. Fraktal, a start-up software company based in Tartu, Estonia, is behind the new CMS tool.

We’ve been watching Edicy for more than a couple of weeks now trying to figure out where it is going. We still are waiting, but thought we’d share what we know so far.

Movable Type 4.2 Coming Soon

From 4.0 in the summer of 2007 to 4.1 in early 2008, Six Apart is about to grace us with yet another shiny and new version of Movable Type sometime this summer. While the exact release date has not yet been revealed -- think early August -- the 4.2 version looks like something worth the wait. The suspense is further fueled by the MT team’s bold comments revolving around the statement that this is “one of the most important upgrades to Movable Type ever.”

WordPress 2.6 Released Early

The battle of the open source CMS continues. Well some might not consider it a battle, but there is a definite push to stay at the top by the leaders of the pack. WordPress is no slouch where that is concerned. In the news again, WordPress announced the release of version 2.6 -- a month ahead of their original schedule no less.

Blogit for the iPhone

Micro-blogging is getting a bit of a lift today as Six Apart announces a new application – well, new to the iPhone at least. Six Apart’s BlogIt application for Facebook is now available for the Apple iPhone. Is this just the beginning of a long line of applications that will propel us forever into the world of twitter-dom?

Blogging is a great way to be social online, to extend your influence and to build community. Most of you already know these things. But we're all busy people and this is a rapidly evolving sphere. So the following question is nearly always pertinent and worth revisiting: Are you using your blog most effectively?

Movable Type 4.15 Publishing Platform

Originally scheduled for release Monday May 19, the newest release of Movable Type v4.15 is now planned for Wednesday May 28, 2008. Why the delay? They say all will become clear on release day. Until then, here are the enhancements in store for all you Movable Type users.

YouPublish content portal

Just a few weeks after private file sharing service drop.io was opened up to the public, another file sharing service, called YouPublish has been announced. Since we like file sharing and we like drop.io, we were interested to see what this new service had to offer and what makes it different from drop.io.

WordCamp for WordPress

Remember when you were a kid and you spent the summer at camp, lying in the sun, hiking, grilling and just plain having fun? Or maybe you just wished you were one of those kids.

Here's a camp that doesn't have the sunbathing, hiking or grilling. No, this camp is nothing like that at all. This is WordCamp. And the fun? Well, that's completely up to you.

Blogging has been around for some time now, but there is a new aspect of blogging that is on the rise across the web. That aspect is microblogging. Much like the advent of text messaging, microblogging is taking the idea of being connected to the next level and sweeping the world over.

Six Apart, Apperceptive, Six Apart Media

Six Apart has just announced the creation of Six Apart Media and Six Apart Services divisions. The real news here is the Media bit. The Media operation is an advertising network -- not unlike Federated Media -- that will open up to participation from some percentage of the blogosphere, regardless of what technology the typing monkeys are using. As part of the news, 6A have nabbed NYC-based consultancy, Apperceptive. The acquisition forms the basis of Six Apart Services, which is really not about traditional consulting services, rather it's about helping bloggers monetize and grow their properties, while 6A Media gets a long term cut.

Hey, hey, look what they've done...it's Vox flipped inside out.
