Video content has revolutionized the web. It would take over 400 years to watch every single clip that currently exists on YouTube, as there are 13 hours of video content uploaded every minute. In addition, the customer demand for video is getting stronger with over 100 million of YouTube clips viewed per day.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that the business community has woken up to the power of video. With greater competition, more organizations have come under the increasing pressure to facilitate effective use of rich media content.

Well boys and girls, you voted and the results are in. WordPress (news, site) promised to release some semi-solid details on the features that made the 2.9 cut at some point in July, and so they came, skidding into home at the last possible minute.

Over 3,500 WordPress enthusiasts responded to the survey posted a few weeks ago, asking participants to choose which multimedia features sounded like winners among those that had been suggested (Flickr-like photo stream, a revised media UI, bulk media input API, media albums, easier embeds, etc.). The exact features for 2.9 are still being worked out, but the results of the survey provide a pretty good idea of how things are going to go down in the coming months. Et voilà:

A new version of YouDu Web CMS designed specifically for professional associations, government, e-commerce websites and intranets has been unveiled by the UK-based Big Oxford Computer Company (BOCC).

Accordent Technologies has released an expanded version of its Accordent Media Management System to include support for TANDBERG video conferencing systems and Flash presentations.

Media Management System is a centralized CMS framework for managing multimedia assets like streaming video and audio, video presentations, lectures, and webcasts.

Features are roughly what you would expect from traditional Enterprise CMS products - content management portal, user authentication and tracking, workflow functionality and so forth, except for two key differences.

The first is, obviously enough, that this CMS is specifically designed for managing multimedia.

Vignette, the firm responsible for refining Web Content Management for some of the world’s largest organizations, has announced the availability of the Vignette Digital Services Hub, a new technology aimed to tame the management and distribution of rich multimedia.
