CrownPeak SaaS CMS Adds Omniture's Test and Target Capabilities

CrownPeak_logo_2009.gifIf you don’t remember when CrownPeak (news, site) added their own testing, targeting and measurement tools last November, then don’t worry. They’re adding similar tools -- again -- but this time it’s via integration with Omniture (news, site).

How Integrated is Your Web Analytics Package and is That a Good Thing?

According to BtoB Magazine the web analytics market is expected to hit US$ 953 mil by 2014, and suggesting that the pickings might be even juicier Adobe recently acquired Omniture for the tidy sum of about US$1.8 billion.

If you're on top of things Web, then you've probably noticed a growing hum of activity in the analytics space. Here's a quick scan around the field and a look at what all this Web CMS + analytics integration news we've been hearing about means.

Adobe and Salesforce.com Partner for Enterprise Apps

Adobe and Salesforce.com Partner for Enterprise AppsWell, when Box.net and Salesforce.com announced their partnership last week, we said it illustrated a growing trend toward providing applications on existing Software-as-a-Service platforms. Here to back us up this week is another Salesforce.com partnership, but this one might have a bit more volume, as it's with Adobe (news, site).

To put it simply, developers can now create applications featuring their Salesforce.com data using Adobe Flash technology. Adobe Air is available for desktop applications as well. Apply the popularity that desktop applications such as Tweetdeck have received to an an application that can utilize the vast amount of information available in any given Salesforce.com account, and things get pretty interesting, right? See here for a demo:

But don't got too excited just yet; the fruit from the Adobe/Salesforce.com womb is still in its preview stage. There's no doubt, however, that this particular combo is going to give developers a new and very exciting reason to flex their talents.

From another angle, it's also interesting to see Adobe making moves toward what looks like a business-centric style (remember their gobbling up of Omniture). If you've got your head in your hands over it because you're trying to figure out what it all means for the bigger picture, don't worry, we're in the boat with you.

For now, it's safe to say the Enterprise is about to swell with third party applications, much like our social and browser environments. How will it pan out? Well, keep up with us here and let's find out.

Developer Kids, Play in the New Omniture Sandbox

Developer Kids, Play in the New Omniture SandboxUtah-based Web analytics provider Omniture (news, site) fed the development fire this week by opening up a public beta of the Omniture Developer Sandbox.

By utilizing the SiteCatalyst development environment, developers can tinker with a set of test data or upload custom data of their own. Along with a full set of integration APIs for bi-directional data exchange and administration between developer applications and Omniture products, the sandbox aims to ease the creation process.

"Because of the Omniture Developer Sandbox, our community, including interactive agencies, professional services partners, and software developers, can more effectively leverage the 1 trillion transactions we capture for clients each quarter to create innovative solutions for customers," said John Mellor, executive vice president of business development and corporate strategy at Omniture.

The announcement comes as a follow up to Omniture's June 2009 promise to provide real-life data and information. It also follows close behind Adobe's US$ 1.8b acquisition of the company, which continues to fuel a lot of speculation over what's next for Web analytics, among other things.

Adobe Picks Up Omniture: What it Means

adobe-logo_2009.gifYou’ve undoubtedly heard the news: yesterday, in an acquisition to end all acquisitions style, Adobe (news, site) announced definitive plans to acquire Omniture for US$ 1.8 billion. Most initial reactions involved a lot of whooping over what on the surface looks like the first step towards a complete web solutions package -- design, build, publish and monitor -- but what's really going on here?

As per usual for the speculative bunch, there’s just a tad more to it than cooler workflows and more insights.

Web Analytics - Who is Omniture's Biggest Competitor

I thought Omniture’s (news, site) recent Q1 2009 earnings call provided more insight into the company than past calls; perhaps this was the result of less than all positive news. Let's take a look.

WebTrends' New Approach to Web Analytics

Since Alex Yoder took over the reins as CEO at WebTrends in August, the company has been on an active campaign to make itself over…on both the image and product development fronts. Preaching a message of “openness” this has been manifest in hiring a new PR firm focused on consistent messaging and a senior management team that shows an interest in accessibility…both noticeable changes from the pre-Yoder days

Win the ROI Game with Twitter Analytics

omniture_logo_2009.jpgBack in October of last year we commented on Omniture’s efforts to get their SiteCatalyst solution for Web analytics a bit more attention. At the time, a widget seemed appropriate.

But things move fast in the Web world and today Social Media is the talk of the town. Accordingly, Omniture proposed the integration of Social Media mega star Twitter for monitoring and measuring information.

Integrate Web Analytics with Your Applications

Omniture Widgetizes SiteCatalyst

Looking for ways to get its SiteCatalyst solution into the faces of ever more audiences, Omniture, provider of website analytics, announced the SiteCatalyst Widget.

SiteCatalyst is Omniture’s foundation product providing real-time web analytics for website and mobile solutions. They recently added to their product through the acquisition of some assets from search provider Mercado.

The widget enables you to share and publish SiteCatalyst reports, dashboard and bookmarks integrating the content into any type of application. Possibilities include iGoogle, the Google Toolbar, Windows Live websites, Yahoo! Desktop and just about any website or intranet that supports widgets.

Jim Sterne, founder of the eMetrics Marketing Optimization Summit said, “With the SiteCatalyst Widget, Omniture is making Web analytics ubiquitous throughout businesses, allowing them to make more informed decisions.”

A smart move by Omniture as it helps put analytics into the eye of the business without forcing them to go into the full application and figure out how to use it. After all, it is the business who needs to see the information and make decisions related to how their websites are performing.

We wanted to see what a sample SiteCatalyst widget looked like in something like iGoogle or an intranet site, but alas, we are left to our imaginations.

The SiteCatalyst widget is definitely an enterprise offering, something Google should look into for their analytics solution.

Omniture Optimizes Its Solutions Through Acquistion

Omniture Acquires assets of Mercado

Who says it’s better to build your own than buy someone else’s? Well not many actually. Omniture seems to understand this, because they have chosen to expand their solutions for site search and merchandising through the acquisition of assets from Mercado, another search provider.
