Oracle has just released what it is calling middleware in a box, which it unveiled at the Oracle Open World in San Francisco. Known more precisely as the Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud, it is a combination of software, servers, storage and networking that acts as a middleware engine in order to run Java and other applications.

Anthony Lye, the senior vice president of CRM at Oracle, gave a brief 45 minute "chalk talk" with CRM analysts, press and bloggers at Oracle Open World. It was a small and intimate setting with around 30 or so people who were free to ask any questions they wanted about Oracle CRM. Anthony also took 20 minutes to brief the room on exactly what was going on with the CRM side of things at Oracle.

During Sunday's keynote, launching this week’s Oracle Open World conference in San Francisco, CEO Larry Ellison announced a major new release of their Fusion platform. Five years in the making, it is set to eventually replace all Oracle, PeopleSoft, JDEdwards and Siebel middleware as well as all as all the applications that run on them.
