Alfresco 2.2, enterprise content management

There were no fireworks, no fanfare or screams of "It's Here!, come and get it!". Last week, Alfresco very quietly released the newest version of their enterprise content management system. We here at CMSWire thought that was strange for such a well-known popular ECM.

So we contacted the folks over there. They told us that in a few weeks, Alfresco will officially, formally launch the release of Alfresco Enterprise Edition 2.2. Then they allowed us to grace the presence of their Chief Marketing Officer, Ian Howells, who taught us a few things about the impetus behind the release.

Drupal open source web content management system

It's Crystal Ball time once again, when every two-bit hack on the Web reaches for the ether and prises back the veil of time, peering into the murky future.

Dries Buytaert is no hack - he's the founder of Drupal and the co-founder of Acquia. But he's as entitled as anyone else to play Nostradamus, and he's just outlined his vision of what we can expect in the open source CMS world, and in the Drupal project over the next twelve months.

Global CMS and content infrastructure purveyor Day has added a handful of major contributors, from the annals of open source, to its senior developer team.

Poaching from the resources of the open source movement is an activity of growing popularity. In particular, open source Web CMS offerings are less expensive and increasingly more user friendly than many enterprise counterparts.

You can also count on an enthusiastic, auto-correcting bug-detector: the close-knit open source community itself.

SilverStripe, the mama-friendly open source CMS that was nominated "Most Promising" by Packt, has just released v2.1.0 of its primary offering.

The updates are extensive. In short, this PHP 5.2-modded version provides support for unit testing, themes and widgets, as well as comment moderation and stronger API documentation, and features for running SilverStripe in safe mode and under open_basedir restrictions. It also addresses bugs that were found in v1 and above.

Check out screenshots and such at the SilverStripe site.
