A new version of open source Java content management system (CMS), OpenWGA (news, site) has been released.  Version 5.4 includes a number of new improvements that make the CMS easier to use such as retaining formatting during copy and paste operations, a number of new modules, new ways to customize applications built on the platform and hundreds of break fixes.

OpenWGA (news, site) went open source a couple of months ago, but the updates haven't slowed down. With its latest release (5.2), you now have support for CMIS and social media.

German web content management vendor Innovation Gate Gmbh decided earlier this year to rebrand version 5 of their Java-based product as open source. Let's take a look at what they're offering and where it fits.
