Open Text, a well known leader in the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) space have announced their financial results for their third quarter which ended March 31.
As compared to the same quarter last year (prior to the Hummingbird acquisition in August 2006) both total revenues and software license revenues were strongly up over 50% while profit sharply dropped 47 percent, related to higher operating costs and a number of one-time expenses.

In more positive news for ECM vendor Open Text, Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS), the largest of Vermont’s 21 utility companies, just implemented the company’s Livelink ECM. Livelink will assist in managing CVPS’s e-documentation and records for compliance purposes and e-discovery.

The three-time Readers’ Choice Award winners at Open Text just signed a contract with the Defense Science and Technology Lab to provide an electronic document and records management solution in the form of Livelink ECM.
The Lab selected Open Text after a competitive process that ultimately came down to cost and functionality, as determined by private testing - a process conducted in a manner most hush-hush by their change management program.

Open Text, the largest independent provider of Enterprise CMS software, has released the data for their unaudited financial results for their second fiscal quarter of 2007 (ended December 31, 2006).
With their total revenues for the quarter at US$ 163.3 million, as compared to US$ 110.8 million for the same period in the year prior, we’d have to say that 2007 is getting started with a decent sized bang. And the market seems to be agreeing with us.

According to a recent report by the UK-based Butler Group, outdated document collaboration processes are wasting time and posing risks to companies.
“Document management systems have helped organizations improve internal efficiency,” said the report. “However, extending these systems to partners and stakeholders has proved much more difficult. Internet connectivity now provides the information worker with incredible reach, but productivity is still constrained by the collaborative range of office productivity tools and ingrained working practices.”

Open Text has announced that they’ve received three Readers’ Choice Awards from KMWorld Magazine, recognizing their achievements in the Enterprise CMS technology areas of Email Management, Document Management, and Collaboration.
The results of the KMWorld 10th Anniversary Readers’ Choice Awards were announced in this month’s State-of-the-Industry issue. Readers were asked which companies came to mind in various categories, like document management, email management, search, and collaboration.
