It is impossible to understand the value of Plone the product without having a sense of Plone the community.
Personally, I believe that Plone has one of the strongest communities in the open source world. My first evening at the Plone Conference has done nothing to dissuade me from that point of view, and I had some really interesting conversations with several people about their ideas for Plone.

I am sitting in Jon Stahl’s wonderful overview of the new Plone 3.0 features at the Plone Conference in Naples, Italy and must say that I’m very impressed that I could have been sitting at home in the US, watching along in real time in the virtual world of Second Life.
Anybody who wants to virtually participate, just search for “Plone” on Second Life or check out the SLurl, and you can join all the fun we’re having!

DISCOVER Magazine, one of the most widely read science mags in the US, had out grown its dated Web Content Management infrastructure for www.discovermagazine.com. Times were changing, multi-media was big and in general Web and CMS technology had moved forward significantly.
After analyzing current needs and taking stock of the Web CMS landscape DISCOVER ultimately selected the open source Plone platform. This is a two-part series where we look at the CMS features which convinced DISCOVER to chose Plone.

Following shortly behind the 3.0 release candidate this past July, the Plone Foundation is excited — and relieved — to announce the general availability of Plone 3.0.
At least part of the big news with this release is the addition of versioning to the Plone core. This new capability places the Plone offering into a new class of Web Content Management competitors.

After nine months of hard work, the folks at the Plone Team have announced the release candidate build of Plone 3.0, available for all platforms.
Plone, an open source CMS built on the Zope application server, is used by hundreds of professional web sites around the world. This upcoming release is promised to be the most advanced and feature-ridden version of this popular CMS product.

In what appears to be a bit of a reverse on Nokia's previous statements, they today announced a collaboration with Blogging leader and maker of Movable Type, Six Apart.
Nokia and Six Apart announced that they are collaborating to create a powerful near real-time Blogging experience. Mobile web logging (MoBlogging) is one of the most dynamic areas in content sharing today. MoBlogging enables people to publish content -- text and/or pictures -- to the web, using just a mobile phone.
TypePad's, Six Apart's hosted blogging service, will be providing an enhanced set of media features that have been designed by Six Apart and Nokia to enable blogging from your mobile phone.
