Citrix has announced two new chat functions that are designed to improve the functionality of the Podio project management platform.

In this holiday season, collaborative work platform Podio, a subsidiary of collaboration technology provider Citrix, is giving users of its a thematically appropriate gift – the gift of sharing.

Collaborative work platform provider Podio is releasing a new app for the Android platform. The app, available for download on Google Play, enables Android users to employ the full range of Citrix Podio features on their devices.

Trying to help make reports of the death of email premature, collaborative work platform provider Podio is today unveiling a new feature that connects a user’s email inbox to their workflow. Called Email to Workspace, the feature enables users to send an email from their email inbox to Podio as a task, status update (to the activity stream) or as a new project in an existing Podio app.

Collaboration technology provider Citrix is enhancing the calendaring capabilities in the Citrix Podio collaborative work platform by offering two new platform integrations with Outlook Exchange Calendar and Google Calendar. Podio also now features new customizable filtering and viewing options.

It may be hard to imagine an ultrahip jazz maestro like the late Miles Davis immersing himself in the world of social software and collaboration, but according to a new report from Gartner, some pretty cool things are happening in this space. In "Cool Vendors in Social Software and Collaboration", Gartner identifies harmon.ie, MangoApps, Podio, Social Intelligence, and SocialLogix as being among a "broader set of interesting vendors to watch in social software and collaboration".

Citrix has acquired three-year-old collaborative-work platform provider Podio. Podio’s cloud-based system allows users to apply social media concepts to organizing work instead of being forced to use traditional, highly structured and static project management tools. Citrix is expected to integrate the newly acquired platform into its GoTo cloud services portfolio.

With a single sign-on, Podio users have access to their Box accounts and collaborate in the cloud. Also, a Box customer study shows iPhone remains dominant, but Android adoption is accelerating in the enterprise.
