Oracle Integrates Semantic Data into Workflows Using OpenCalais  Enterprise behemoth Oracle (news, site) recently announced its support for OpenCalais (news, site), a semantic Web service from Thomson Reuters. The native support comes within release 2 of Oracle Spatial 11g, giving both users and developers direct access to OpenCalais’ natural language processing capabilities.

Benefits of the new development include enabling users to extract rich semantic metadata about people, places, companies and events.

Web Content 2008 Kickoff Keynote

Kicking off Web Content 2008 in Chicago is Dick Costolo from Google speaking on Hypersyndication and the Future of Media. Dick made up the word “hypersyndication” to refer to a world in which all content is distributed everywhere, where content is shared, remixed, socialized and put in places the original creator did not expect it to be put in.

Reuters Lab Opens Content Through API

Further proof that innovation breeds more innovation, Reuters has announced that it’s making news content available to the developer community through the use of a non-commercial API. The service will be offered via Reuters Lab, a test site where Reuters can showcase some of their latest product innovations and developments and where users can discover, use and comment on products and services still in progress.

Reuters Joins the Mochila Marketplace

Last month we reported that Mochila, the first global online media marketplace for print, video, and photo content, announced a partnership with Clickability. This development created “a broader distribution channel for client content” and “an outlet to earn money via Mochila’s innovative AdMatch program.”

With access to Clickability’s clients, including NBC, CNN, Editor & Publisher, and the Wall Street Journal, who would have thought the pot could get any sweeter?

Here’s a big lesson for us: the pot can always get sweeter. On Monday Mochila announced that Reuters, the global information company, has joined as one of its premier content providers.
