In the GRC space this week, there’s a lot of records management updates. Laserfiche has been showing off its iPhone records management app at ARMA, DocFinity has released a records management module, StoredIQ has also been working in records management, RSA and McAfee have formed a new partnership and Autonomy has released new policy management software.

EMC’s (news, site) earning for the second quarter jumped dramatically by 28%, which the company is attributing to increased spending on storage products and software licenses, as well as to a growing interest in its Big Data products and cloud computing offerings.

The big event in the GRC space this week was the release of Gartner’s first Magic Quadrant for e-Discovery. Otherwise, RSA and SOA have integrated to provide cloud security, OpenLogic offers new collaboration capabilities for compliance, Iron Mountain shows that enterprises are still struggling to find files, while companies worried about GRC can learn it from ARC Logics.

While security concerns have always been a concern in cloud deployments, there is no shortage of companies like Agiliance to offer solutions for this, while Applied Discovery has added document review to its hosted services.

The Cloud clearly isn’t going away. But the concerns over security, privacy and compliance over Cloud computing haven’t gone away either, which have hindered adoption of Cloud computing by CIOs and other IT decision-makers.

Although influenced by multiple Enterprise CMS passion attacks, in its heart, EMC (news, site) has always been a data storage/management company. Having experience with managing large content/case/records assets in the enterprise is part of the attraction.
